Regular play streets
Wandsworth Council has not yet seen the light with play streets and does not offer its residents the opportunity to open their street for play on a regular basis. If you live in Wandsworth and think this should change we’d love to help you convince the council! So get in touch. In the meantime you could apply to hold a one-off play street event, see below.
Want to try out a play street?
Want to run a trial play street? Perhaps on Car Free Day or another day? We are delighted to announce that Wandsworth has brought its policies in line with other boroughs and no longer charges for street parties held on Car Free Day and some other events – although does impose a small admin fee for other dates.
Apply at least six weeks before your event but for Car Free Day and Clean Air Day these deadlines are reduced. 16 August is the deadline for Car Free Day 2024 but we are working on the council to extend this!
It will usually cost you £60 to apply but this is waived for Car Free Day and Clean Air Day.
Evidence that all residents of the street have been consulted and there is a majority in favour of the party taking place
Nothing is provided by the council. Residents need to supply their own barriers and signage or hire them from the council (for £30).
By the way…
Councils are liable to change dates, process and contact details. We try hard to keep this page updated but if you notice that something is not right, please let us know!
