Regular play streets
Sutton introduced a trial of play streets in autumn 2019. We’re not entirely sure what has happened since, especially in light of the coronavirus pandemic. But we are hopeful play on the street will resume soon!
Refer to council website.
Up to three hours, starting at a fixed time and day on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.
Applications must be accompanied by evidence of support from neighbours living in the affected section of your road including name, signature, address and comments.

Try out a play street
Want to run a trial play street? Perhaps on Car Free Day or another day? You can – but in Sutton, it will unfortunately cost you. See details below to make a one-off street party application.
OK so in Sutton you need to think ahead for this! Apply four months before the event. Yep, really.
Ahem. £842. Sorry to say that’s not a typo and yes, Sutton wins the prize for ‘highest charge for a street party in London’. Most other London councils offer this for free in light of the benefits – happier, healthier, friendlier communities.
Consultation with neighbours must take place at least 2 weeks before submitting application
Nothing is provided – residents need to supply their own barriers and are required to purchase public liability insurance.
If all that hasn’t put you off and you still want to apply, here’s the council web page.
