Play streets in Richmond

Regular play streets

Richmond Council says if there is enough demand from residents, they will look at implementing a policy on play streets. So if you live in Richmond and want to open your street for play, get in touch and demand it! In the meantime you can apply for a one-off street closure, see below.

Want to run a trial play street?

Want to run a trial play street? Perhaps on Car Free Day or another day? You can! Find out if a play street is for you and your neighbours and apply using a one-off street party application. More details below.

Car Free Day 2023 deadline is 31 August. At other times apply six weeks in advance of your event.

There is usually a fee of £70 for street parties in Richmond, but this is waived if you choose to have your play street on Car Free Day in September.

The application must include a statement to say if most residents have agreed to the proposed event or not.

Nothing is provided. Residents must provide their own barriers and a road closure sign is the minimum. Printable signs can be downloaded from council website.
