Regular play streets
Greenwich council’s ethos is that streets are for people, as well as cars. Play streets are part of this vision.
Applications are accepted four times a year – usually 30 January, 31 March 30 June and 31 August but do check website for details.
Up to five hours a session.
A whopping two thirds of affected households must sign in support of your application.
Council provides road closure signs as needed.
Try before you buy – run a trial play street
Want to run a trial play street? Perhaps on Car Free Day or another day? You can! Find out if a play street is for you and your neighbours before committing to regular sessions by having a one-off event. More details below.
Apply at least eight weeks in advance of your event.
Check with council
The majority of residents must agree to the event/street party, and you need to give details of any objections.
Nothing is provided – residents must provide their own road closed signs but these can be home made.
By the way…
Councils are liable to change dates, process and contact details. We try hard to keep this page updated but if you notice that something is not right, please let us know!
