Play streets in Brent

Regular play streets

Barnet has previously allowed residents to apply to run regular play streets but this no longer appears to be the case. It is possible to apply for single on-street events and street parties (see ‘try before you buy’, below).

If the council can see that enough residents in Barnet like the idea of play streets, we reckon there’s a good chance they might bring them back to the borough!  After all, most London boroughs offer them. Get in touch with us and we can help work on them!

Try before you buy – run a trial play street

Want to run a trial play street? Perhaps on Car Free Day or another day? You can! Find out if a play street is for you and your neighbours before committing to regular sessions by having a one-off event. More details below.

Apply at least six weeks prior to your event.

All neighbours to be informed in writing of proposed time and dates, and any objections noted. Three residents must be named as applicants.

Council provides barriers.

By the way…

Councils are liable to change dates, process and contact details. We try hard to keep this page updated but if you notice that something is not right, please let us know!

You will establish a creative enquiry process to find out any barriers to local participation and then develop projects and pathways to overcome these. You will help develop a relevant local youth work offer that builds on partnerships and connections and focuses on earliest help.
Our short course programme on specific topics, team and organisational training sessions are available at affordable prices. Hackney Play Association is willing and able to offer qualifications at all levels subject to demand.
