Funders past & present

London Play could not have spearheaded the great London Play Street Revolution, or created this fantastic online resource, without the support of some committed funders. Here are our main cheerleaders.

The National Lottery Communities Fund

Formerly the Big Lottery, these guys are the staunchest supporters of play streets anywhere. They love that play streets involve people taking the lead in improving life in their own communities but understand that a bit of inspiration, support and advice can make the difference. And that’s where London Play comes in. They have helped us put play back on the streets of London since 2008 by funding: the London Street Play project (2008-2011), London Play Streets (2014-2017) and currently, Playful Communities (2018-2022).

Greenwich Council

Lewisham Council

Enfield Council

Heritage Lottery

Department of Health

Mayor of London and TfL

As the air pollution and congestion crisis deepens across the capital, the people at City Hall have understood the power that play streets have to spark a change in the way people view their roads and how we use this valuable space. Since 2018 London Play has been commissioned to support Car Free Day and the campaign inspiring Londoners to ‘Swap your Car for a Spacehopper’ on Car Free Day.
